Getting final stages of re-fitted kitchen done. I've used old units and I'm pretty fed-up with it.

I've got some nice aluminium kick-boards but they are just too high to fit, it is so tight, I need to trim a couple of mm's at least off the top edge to get them in.

The aluminium has a little strengthening flange at the top, so I have to get through I suppose about 5mm thickness.

Can anyone tell me is there a standard tool I can use on ally – I have a router and also an electric plane, both have steel blades, are they going to just get ruined straighaway or would they stay sharp for while cutting this stuff?

A jig saw with a metal cutting blade comes to mind, but certainly don't go near it with the plane or router!
