Fitting this toilet is proving a lot trickier than I expected.
As you can see the flange on the end of the pipe is wider than the gap in the back of the toilet. I'm wondering if I can trim the sides off this to allow the toilet to slide over the top. The diameter of the flange is 17.5cm and the gap at the back of the toilet is 14cm, so I only need to take <2cm off each side. The actual cast iron soil pipe is ~11.5cm wide (outer diameter) so I've got a bit of leeway either side.
Apart from the physical difficult - planning on trying it with a hacksaw, anyone see any major issues with this approach?
I should add, the flange doesn't seem to be doing anything - the bottom of it is a few mm about the floorboards - it's not fastened to anything.
