Since we upgraded to sky + we have been having intermittent trouble. When I turn the tv on it sometimes stays blank and has hdmi in the top left corner, I then have to fiddle with the tv remote for ages before the sky home screen pops up. This also happens if I play a dvd, when we try to put the tv back on the same thing happens, anyone help please ?

You have your tv setup to auto switch to the HDMI input. Turn this off or to what you want it to auto switch to (sky on scart?)
If you have an HD ready TV as it seems you do, the HD box and subscription is worth it in my opinion.
