trowel size for travertine tiles

Hi i have 400mmx600mmx12.5mm travertine tiles going onto aquapanel on the wall, is 10mm half moon enough or will i need 12mm?
I also have 20cmx40cmx10mm going on another wall will i need 10/12 for them?

A 10mm tile trowel will be okay on large format wall tiles.

Started putting a few tiles up, when backbuttering the tile should I only be filling the holes or is the idea to get a layer a coupel mm thick on the tile?

I have beenapplying the adhesive to the wall then spreading with the 10mm half moon, and only filling the holes on the back of the tiles, also should i keep taking the tiles off to check full coverage?
