You could still make it as a door with concealed hinges and touch latch.
Sorry. Forgot to say. It needs to be disguised as boxed in pipework. In essence it's boxing in a safe that I don't want anyone knowing is there.

I considered that after I saw a mates stainless steel bin with a touch latch on the lid. The I felt it would be too complicated for little old me.

The bottom 6ft is removeable, with a safe and shelving behind it. The top 1ft is fixed. I couldn't make the whole lot removeable as it wouldn't then pull out of the alcove it's in.

Errr... seamless...
I know. Lol. I had no other way of creating a neat join between the two sections. Once painted it will look better...I hope.
Run a shelf just above join to hide it then you can suspend rail below it therefor removing the need to clear the rail every time you want access.
