Hi everyone

I have a CenterStore unvented cylinder for hot water.

Recently, whenever I turn on a tap (hot or cold), I get a hard to describe noise coming from the airing cupboard - it's a sort of noise like someone's blowing a trumpet that either lasts until the tap is turned off or 3-4 seconds if the tap is being run for longer than that.

I've confirmed that I don't have a brass band or an elephant in my airing cupboard but it's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from, although I think it might be coming from the expansion vessel.

Does this sound like anything simple that I could have a go at addressing or is it get a plumber out time?

Thanks
Burt

You need to use an unvented qualified plumber to work on that cylinder

Sounds like what is commonly called Water hammer, rest a finger on the pipe to the expansion vessel whilst somebody else opens a tap.
