I was brought up in a strongly Christian household. But I honestly don't know what I believe now. I know that is a terrible cop out.

That appears to be true for many who were raised in religious settings.
The notion of a God (a physical being) is complete lunacy as far as I'm concerned, however, I can fully appreciate why this notion came about in ancient times when folk, through no fault of their own knew nothing better.
