Trumps blinks and caves in to China

Labour costs for one, do you think Americans will work for Chinese wages? No chance. That's why these companies are in China in the first place.
I didn't realise American robots warn more than Chinese robots...live and learn

You're welcome.

Unfortunately gas112 is just making up stuff he knows nothing about in his desperation to support the Orange idiot

"they cost pennies to make" says gas112

industry analyst firm says: " IHS estimates that the iPad Air costs Apple between $274 and $361 to build"

Re-shoring manufacture of Apple products away from China is very costly and takes years

from January 2024:

Apple's suppliers have so far spent $16 billion to move from China

Poor old notch struggling with components costs to actual build cost. Or more than likely just purposely not adding the rest. ... As in around 10 dollars to make. Which in the actual point of sale cost is miniscule

So you have put an old video up many of those jobs have already been lost to automation in the past few years with apple demandinga further 50% cut in the workforce in favour of automation . So as I asked do American robots make more than Chinese ones
China make robots at a fraction of the American ones. Whatever way you cut it, China wins.

It is an interesting point. I looked into this a few weeks ago. You may have provided the answer yourself earlier. Apparently, these days it isn't primarily about labour costs. For some reason, businesses say that it is extremely difficult and incredibly expensive to replicate the whole manufacturing infrastructure in the USA. They say an iPhone would cost $3000. I don't pretend to fully understand it!

From China? They've just gone up in price because of Chump's tariffs.
So 30 percent on a 1 million dollar machine producing hundreds of millions of products. Yeah those few cents are going to make one helluva difference. But it's not a new 30 percent is it as pre past few months us already had tariffs

Lert us know when all the manufacturing has moved to the US, if you don't mind.

Sorry Old Bean, "build cost" is not direct labour cost

Poor old gas112 is so clueless he doesnt know the difference between direct labour cost and production cost

you are completely wrong if you think an ipad only costs $10 to build

Which in the actual point of sale cost is miniscule
material costs of an ipad are around 50% of the retail sale price

so the "build cost" is a significant part of the manufacture

Its ok Old Bean I accept you apology for being clueless

Oh yeah I forgot america can't buy those cheap robots
factory costs, energy costs, management costs, overhead costs are all dramatically more expensive than China

oh and where do so many of ipad components come from...............
