truss clips

Afternoon

Just looking for advice as to whether it is recommended to use truss clips to fix my rafters to the pole plate on my lean to extension roof that I am going to erect or whether skew nailing is adequate? I will be birdsmouthing the rafters at pole plate & wall plate level.

Also when attaching the ceiling joists to the rafters where they sit side by side on the wall plate am I ok to fix these together with a couple of 4" nails thru the side?

Any advice much appreciated.

In practice, yes to both questions. But probably your building inspector will come along with his theory-book and expect truss clips.

Long as the birdmouths are good then up here BC have been happy with skew nailing- why not give them a ring and ask?
