Hi there, as you can see from the picture, the top part of this TRV has all but snapped off from the metal part.

Can I just unscrew the large ribbed metal washer and replace the plastic part - ?are they available separately? or will I need to turn the water off to avoid getting very wet?

Thanks in advance!

If it's a branded make, you can often buy the actuator to replace broken one.

If it's a budget model, you may be looking at replacement.

Hi thanks for replying both of you, it's a Heat Line TRV. I've looked to see if I can find a replacement, but I can't see the white ones anywhere. Do you know if another make will fit?

Thanks again

Most TRV heads are interchangeable, Danfos and Westherm (Comap) being ones throwing the spanner into the works, as it were.

Just as an update, heat line were impossible to track down, the number on their website is an 01733 number, which should have been 01773 which was discontinued anyway. I tracked a number down to Bedford and spoke to someone who said they have been taken over by glow worm.

Anyway I went to one plumbing supplier (City plumbing) who couldn't help, then to another one who tried to match one but couldn't.

Anyway in B & Q they had Drayton rt111 trvs at 10.99. What a perfect fit!
Functionally they also seem perfect, the valve seems fully closed at 0 and fully open at 5.

So for anyone else who googles and finds this thread the Drayton rt111 is a good replacement head for the Heat Line white head.

Thanks again for all your help!
