Hello All,

I am removing a couple of radiators to decorate behind one and to remove another.

I have a TRV like this but slightly different maybe an older model.

I have set it to * but the water is still flowing and I have set it back one notch but still flowing.

How can I shut the water off to remover the radiator. My old mad seems to think there is a cap i need to screw into the valve, but I have only neen here 2 years and was never left anything like that.

Also, I am having the system flushed soon with a new boiler being fitted. I have been advise to change the LSV's as they could leak. Is this likely, or just the plumber playing it safe?

thanks in advance.

Rob

The * position is the frost setting, not a fully closed setting. What you need are called "decorator caps". One comes with each stat but most people seem to throw them away.

The way round it is to remove the head (set to max and then undo the large knurled nut) now insert a coin or similar inside the head and replace. Close the valve down slowly until it won't close any further and you will have stopped the flow.

Is there any sign of leaking? If so change it before flushing, otherwise carry out the flush and change if necessary.
