Hello, new to the forum with a problem.

I was changing a starter switch on my kitchen tube light, simple job I've done many a time.

But disaster struck and the fitting which the starter slots and rotates into has "pushed through" and it now loose inside the housing of the tube light.

any advice?

Turn off electric supply.
Remove the tube.
Remove the case cover.
See if you can push it back outward ,if its lugs have broken off ,it may not stay in place . as long as you can hold it and fit the starter in position ,it will work OK albeit loose. Failing this ,renew the fitting.

Did it, took inner cover plate off, the switch holder had just un-clipped itself, made sure the switch was clicked into place and then re-clipped the switch socket back into its rightful place, then put together again.

cheers for the advice, mate.
