Hi,

Whats the best route for a waste pipe to go from a washing machine to the drain? Should I install a stand pipe, or is it ok for the pipe to go out of the washing machine, dive under some kitchen cupboards, and then up into the waste on the kitchen sink?

Thanks

A stand pipe will always result in the fewest long-term problems.

If you don't do that, then use an appliance spigot joining above the sink trap, and ensure that the waste pipe runs up to the height of the top of the appliance before going down to join the sink waste.

Never dive down to the floor and then up, because this can result in waste 'water' from the sink entering the appliance, and, even if that doesn't happen, the appliance waste pipe will gradually silt up and block.
