Our newish tumble dryer keeps tripping the consumer unit. This used to happen sometimes when the washing machine was on at the same time and the dryer was set to high, but last night it happened when only the dryer was on and set to low.

Is this most likely to be a fault with the dryer or is it that my house electrics can't cope?

If more than 1 appliance is tripping, its more liable to be the power supply.

Given that it used to happen with the washing machine as well as the drier I would say the problem is either you are overloading the circuit or you may have a faulty circuit breaker & that you need an electrician rather than an appliance engineer.

Thanks for the quick replies. I suspected as much but it's good to get a second opinion. Have called an electrician.
