Hi,
When the central heating kicks in the picture on my TV screen frezes for a second and the sound goes as well, I have a freeview box connected to the TV, seems to have started after having a new electric meter fitted, anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

A problem with digital TV where any electrical disturbance can disrupt the signal and the error count ( number of corrupted digital "bits" ) is too high for the set to create the next frame of the picture. So it does a reset and this loses sound and picture updates.

On analogue TV the same disturbance makes a few white flashes on the picture but the set copes with that without having to reset.

Modern technology is not always better.

[1] Try a filtered in line socket for the TV and box

[2] Fit suppressors to the boiler and thermostat

[3] Consider have the aerial improved if the signal strength is on the minimum for the box.

Also consider having Shielded cable fitted, I think the Sky Coax cable has an internal shielding shroud.

We have NTL via a Samsung STB. Every time we switch on the Lounge wall lights (CFL) it changes channel :? We never had this problem with the old Pace STB.
