Anyone aware of suppliers offering better deal than J.Lewis ... ref 5 yr guarantee, included, in quite competitive price ?

P

Nope, J Lewis still seems to be doing the best deals, certainly on Sony's anyway. I bought mine at one of the other major retailers and despite the price match you don't get the extended warranty (I thought it was 3 years)

It is definitely worth having. My dad bought a Sony widescreen when they were first coming out. The tube went after about 14 months, luckily the JL warranty covered it for parts and labour, i.e. no charge.

When buying my Wega I rang up to ask them about it and the guy on the phone assured me they had stopped doing it. So I went and bought it at my local Currys. When I went to the JL and happened to be looking at the TVs I noticed they DID still do the warranty. Needless to say I muttered rude words at myself.

I bought a 36" Toshiba picture frame 6 weeks ago from Costco £1200 with 3 year in home warranty. Same telly at J Lewis is £1511, as you say with 5 year warranty.

Depends how you value the warranty really, in my case though £300 was a good saving.

Think I will have to find a Costco near me! Their website is down at the mo. :?

Planning on buying a Yamaha DSPAX-750 in the next month or two, will see how the Costco range of hifi separates is. :D

They don't have the choice you would find in the likes of curry's etc. Everything is usually top quality though and they are very good if you have any problems.

Nearest Costco store .. Reading ... quite a step !
They do have a strangely selective membership criteria, wonder why ?

I tried the usual comparisons for price, on the Sony kit, JL beat everyone listed due to the 5yr guarantee.
Not looking forward to hefting it around --- 45 Kg !!!

Disposable income I suppose, they must think certain sections of society will spend more.

Discrimination really, wonder if it's allowed?

The criteria is not hard to meet , but it's not worth it unless they are local.

But JL are surely "never knowingly undersold". Seriously though all my experiences with JL have been excellent.

If you find the same goods for a ludacrously low price elsewhere, perhaps they put their hands over their ears and go "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!" so they aren't "knowingly" undersold

JL are a good shop. If a woman ever gets me tied down (and not in the fun way  ) I would probably get my wedding list there (sorry, first batch of friends have had their grazing rights revoked this year, all I can think of is nuptuals  )

(I talk like this, yet wonder why I don't have a girlfriend)

THAT'S why you don't have a G/F.... mentioning nuptials before you even meet.

Or is it Ms. Ex's head that greets them when you open the front door that puts 'em off??

:D

Really puts them off when you answer the door wearing your ex's undies and makeup.

Really think we should have a forum for trannies here

I would NOT make an attractive woman. Think of "Donk" from Crocodile Dundee in a dress, that would be a good approximation. *shudder*

Escuse me .... lad(d)ies .... we talking TV's of the televisual kind 'ere :!:
