Hi all, renovating a room. It's been plastered, empty room, no carpet, using VOC free paint and primer and TVOC readings are still high. It was at 500+ earlier.

Prior to the renovation, there was 2 beds, fitted wardrobe and carpet and at night TVOC levels would reach 2700!!

There is rendering on the bay window on the outside, the window is an old metal type double glazing.

Am out of my wits what this could be now... Any suggestions?

It’s not “high” though is it? It’s 500 parts per billion. How low do you expect it to be?

What are you using to measure this?

Can it be affected by consumer chemicals, e.g. aftershave?

Go outside and in all other rooms, and down to the local shops and any other building and take measurements for comparison and context.

Any test instrument in inexperienced hands is just as dangerous as the thing that is being measured.
