I'm laying an armoured cable in a trench for an outdoor light circuit, and future proofing by laying a second armoured cable to be used in the future for a garage. I know the indiviudal guages of wiring needed for both circuits, but I'm not sure about any impact of running two cables in a single trench, e.g. do they need to be separated from each other by a certain distance, is the guage of wire needed for each circuit affected by having another cable close by, etc?

No problem if they are both "mains" cables. The only consideration is if one cable were something like a data cable, Then there are spacing issues to consider.
