If I run two cables from the roof aerial, will both cable carry full strength signal from the aerial, or is the signal likely to be weaker than having 1 cable to a 2 port amp and then feeding each TV from the amp?

The cable is designed for a particular impedance at rf which matches the aerial impedance, for maximum power transfer of the signal. If you connect more than one cable there will be a complete mismatch and the signal will be badly degraded. The amplifier is the correct way to go.

I'm no expert but I would have thought 1 cable to a 2 port amp and then feeding each TV from the amp.

Thanks guys- that explains why I don't see multiple occupancy property with 6 cables terminating on a single aerial.

I'll think about my questions a bit more before I ask
