Hello all, I hope you can help.
I have a new build with dual zone heating with a combi boiler. I've replaced the thermostats with nest.
Since moving into the house I've noticed that bedroom 3 & 4 dont get particularly warm when the heatings on. Never really bothered me however my wife is pregnant and bedroom 3 will be the babies room so I need to fix this issue.
I think the heating is working correctly and all boilers are bleed. I think it's simply the position of the thermostat.
The upstairs nest is in the main bedroom and with this the rad has no trv. So I'd imagine this rad is heating up pretty quick and turning the heating off once the room gets to temp. However this then leaves bedroom 3 and 4 not enough time to heat up. If turning the heating to say 23 degrees then bed 2 and 4 get warm but the main bedroom is then crazy hot.
I've tried turning all the trvs down and beds 3 and 4 on max but this hasn't helped.
I have three ideas I'd like to put by you all to get your thoughts.
Idea 1: (I believe this can be done) can I slow down the flow of the water on the rad in the main bedroom which means it will take longer to heat up? Is this by the valve on the lock shield? If so would this work and some help on what to do would be great.
Idea 2: I add a trv to the main bedroom rad and then turn this down to help the rest heat up before the thermostat switches off. I can then keep tweaking the trv to get the right balance.
Idea 3: relocate the nest into the hallway but then this will require a lot more work and I'll need a trv in the main bedroom anyway as this will keep pumping out heat at full power.
I'm hoping idea 1 will work. Your help would be greatly received.
Thanks
Dan
