The double dimmers switch in my lounge half packed up (I could still put on the ceiling light but not the wall lights). I didn't like the dimmer function anyway so I purchased a standard two gang swtch plate to replace it. The instructions included seem very unenlightening but I thought that if I duplicated the set-up which I found it'd be ok - foolishly I neither labelled or photographed it. Needless to say that on "duplicating" what I remembered the switch wouldn't work properly - when I switch the circuit back on, one or other of the lights is on and this toggles on one switch while the other switch does nothing. I have a blue, yellow, red and earth wire coming in (the earth is appropriately connected at least) and there is also a length of red which ran between the two switch blocks.

I've looked in the wiki and the sticky and I can't find the answer - can someone help me?

cheers

put the short bit of red between the 2 terminals marked COM

Others are an educated guess: Try red in with either end of the short bit of red, blue to one of the L1's and and yellow to the other L1
