Hi everybody.
I have a problem with my bath shower mixer. Under the basin is a pump which just does cold water for bath. In cupboard by hot water tanks there is another pump. Our plumber has said that having these two separate is why our shower will not adjust properly as one pump is cancelling out the other so it won't turn on. Does this sound right? He also said the electrics for the cold pump are dangerous because they are just wrapped in insulation tape under the basin and plugged into a socket in the bedroom next door. I know this is true because my flat mate couldn't use the shower one day as I was drying my hair with this plug. The solution he has offered is to fit a twin pump by the hot tank and run the cold water around the bedroom to the new pump and back. He says this has to be done that way bedause the floor are conrete and the cold water is coming from tanks on the roof of the block (we are in falts) in the opposite corner from the cupboard. The hot pipes already travel round the bedroom in a box.
The electrics can be connected to in the cupboard then and made safe. Does this all make sense?
Another plumber said that we should take out the hot water tank and have a combination boiler installed so that the hot water is from the high pressure mains pipe in the kitchen. But what about the cold from the roof? Also this is expensive so we were hoping to get another two or three years from the old boiler so that we can upgrade the whole flat later.
Thank you for your help I have learnt lots from this forum already.
