Hi All,

Merry Xmas

I have a old double switch in my hallway which I would like to replace with a newer switch. The old one has 3 connections at the top and tree at the bottom. each side has the standard Common/L1/L2.

The new double switch does not look like this states on the box as a 2G 6A 2way switch. At the back it is slightly different in design as it seems to be vertically, so each switch has a Common/2way/1way.

Old switch cable conections:
---------------------------------
Top section:

Red = common
Yellow = L1
Blue = L2

Bottom section:

Red = Common
Black = L1

----------------------------------

My first question is do I have the correct replacement switch for the old one. Second question is if it is the correct switch, how to a wire it up.

Thanks in advance
James

you have the correct switch. The new switch is divided into 2 with a line or something, yes? One side of the line is com, 1W, 2W, and same the other side.

I think you think the old switch had the top row for one switch and the bottom row for the other switch. Wrong. Each switch is layed out like a triangle on the back.

Both reds to common, as before.

Yellow and blue to L1 and L2 of one switch

Black to L1 of the other switch.

Thanks for explaining that to me, I now have a better idea.

I wil give it a try in about 30 minutes, will let you know what the outcome is.

James
