Type 22 vs Type 21 radiators

New rads are thinner metal than old rads so heat transfer is quicker
Fair enough, but that doesn't seem to have anything to do with him having changed 21s to 22s - on the basis of what you're saying, the same would presumably have occurred had he replaced old 21s with new 21s, wouldn't it ?

Lol - not just common sense but when actually knowing what they are and then actually thinking about it when typing would help!!

I guess thinking along those line though, then the rad between K1 and K2 shouldn't really be a P+, even though it stand for panel plus, maybe should have been a K1.5. Don't know why they added a new naming convention anyway. I think I'll just stick to Type **
 
Fair enough, but I still don't understand the comments you made about the back panels of the radiators.

What do the "110mm" and "160mm"refer to?

The increased output (due to a second set of fins) obviously should have resulted in the rooms being heated more rapidly, but I would not have expected the rads themselves to heat up any more rapidly.

The back panel provides an even surface facing the wall. Without a back panel the fin flutes face the wall and allows more heat to reach the wall supporting the radiator. Looking down from the top the internals of the radiator appears to the eye more uniform and thus neater. Im a DIYer and the rads are in my home and I look at them daily.

Radiators work by heated water entering the radiator panel, as the panel heats up the heat is transferred to the fins, this is called conduction, the fins warm the air surrounding the fins which rises.
As the heated air rises to the ceiling it pushes down the colder air which is eventually warmed by the radiator, this begins a circulatory movement of the air which continues until the room is warmed sufficiently to cause the thermal valve to stop the flow of heated water i to the radiator.
A room can the heated quicker if an adjustable ceiling fan is installed and set the move the upper air down.
