type of paint to paint designs on tile

Can I just use acrylic paint and permanent markers to put designs on ceramic tile then coat it with a varnish or something of this sort to seal and protect it?

If the tiles are not on the wall yet then you could try a hobby ceramic paint, will need baking in your oven. Marabu make one called "Ceramica"

I've seen where there are pictures on tiles. Then they look as if they are coated over with a shelac..can't spell well..sorry..anyhow.. I really didn't want to have to bake the tiles. Just to make decorative designes on them or family pictures for a back splash or border.
I have dreams of stuff and then I try to figure out how to do it. Usually can't do what I dreampt
