Tyre valve stem leak

And I don’t recall running a car without servicing it at all apart from an oil change every 10 years do you?
I see no connection between tyre change and oil change. An official dealer declared a full bill of heath for my car. Maybe they know more than you do about things? Although they recommend coolant and brake fluid change. Can you still remember radiator and caliper change only the other day, and a big jug of ATE SL.6?

If you had a leaking valve on a wheel just a couple of weeks after paying someone to fit it, what would you do?
I would decide shop incompetent, and don't let them touch my stuff again.

It was obvious to me, I don't recall getting a tyre changed in the last 37 years and not getting a new valve.
Obvious to me from all the cheap tyre shops I used in the past. They would never skimp over a 10p valve. Their profit margin is ridiculous: bit of air, 10p valve, and bob's your uncle, £10, £15, £20 please.

And I don’t recall running a car without servicing it at all apart from an oil change every 10 years do you? Nutjob claims that’s what he does. You really should look at some of his other posts to see what a wind up he is. He ONLY starts threads to start an argument and he’s never taken advice from anyone, in fact, he often claims to do the opposite to any advice he is given. Going to a tyre shop to get that valve leak fixed is the last thing he will ever admit to doing - he'll probably claim to come up with making a tool to change tyre valves without taking the wheel off the car…..

Why are you bothering to post then? If not to troll?

I’ve stopped in case you haven’t noticed. As I said, I thought I was helping him but as I suspected, he doesn’t want help, just an argument. You’ve made three posts in this thread, none of them giving any advice whatsoever to the OP. Exactly why are you bothering to post?

Foxy was dead right......as were others!
You'll only shift the valve from inside the rim - they are cut away. Any attempt at valve removal will almost certainly destroy it.
Mechanical bead breakers may work (less so with low aspect ratio tyres) but unless you can reseat the tyre on exactly the same spot on the rim then balancing will be required.
Tyre sealant around the tyre and valve should be applied.
You'll also need a huge blast of compressed air to reseat the tyre on the rim.....if the tyre is distorted at all then nothing else will work.
That's my last post on this one!
John :)

There is absolutely no reason why the tyre bead will be reseated differently because the other unbroken bead will hold the existing tyre orientation. Minor differences will have negligible effect because tyre shops are not exactly high precision places. Their work could be wrong in the first place.

That's my last post on this one!
I never stop people come and go. My threads are always welcoming.

Best of luck wrestling with an 18" tyre then, if the opposite bead doesn't let go! Balancing is done to within 10g which is usually quite enough.
Enjoy!
John :)

You'd be right. The tyre shop junior did cry out for help when he was doing it. But, I am truly dissatisfied with shops and have to get my hands dirty and try my luck. If I succeed, I will eliminate one of the long standing agitants in life. If I fail, I will go with tyre in hand to another shop. I have a spare 17 inch and a donut wheel that will allow me to limp to the shop. Theoretically, I can practice on the 17 inch and get some experience in. I don't like that wheel anyway because the tyre is unidirectional and not the best as a spare. If I fail with that, I can leave the new tyre be.

I have just ordered some initial study materials. I will get the bead breaker later if needed. I won't be using the hook in the designed way. I will see if it's possible to insert it centrally after cutting the stem's brass threaded tube off. I want to avoid the hook damaging the rim hole. The stem puller is needed whether I do it by breaking the bead or not.

Oh I'm here to wind you up and troll the OP.
Not the purpose of a forum, haven't you a more constructive way of spending your time ?
It's a shame because over the years forums have lost so many contributors & content to the likes of Face-ache & similar media platforms.

So much time & energy is wasted by certain contributors to this section; differences of opinion are one thing but arguments & personal insults are another & the reason I rarely contribute.
