I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the physics-sceptics didn't do much science at school.

I didn't do any Physics at school - the teacher was duller than one of Justin passing's quiz questions.
That's not to say i don't have an interest in how technology has developed to the point where we can see beyond the mechanical means of propulsion to escape Earth's gravity and seek a simpler answer to the complex problems Physics is unable to answer.

OMG I actually find this a sensible reply. Go you.

If you're asking technology to do something then you're actually asking Physics how to do it and Engineers to put it into practice.

I imagine all kinds of technical know-how will be needed.
I failed Chemistry, too...but that wasn't my fault. The lady who taught us was hawt.

Engineers ask computers to solve their problems because they cannot always do this themselves.

Me too but that's because I never took education seriously back then.

This is a very interesting discussion from an academic.....

You mean stick our Sun in the boot of the spaceship and haul it along for the 50000+ year ride to the nearest habitable planet?

If only the universe was filled with stars. Oh wait.. it is.

The distances are the same and so is the physics - moron.

If you, MBK, koolpc or anyone else for that matter, seriously believe that 'a being' could travel those distances in 'a vehicle', then your understanding of physics = zero.

It's not happening.
If nosenout doesn’t know how to do it, it can’t happen.
