You can't have an economy with nine million people on benefits and huge levels of immigrants coming in," he said. "I mean, the UK has been colonised. It's costing too much money.

I'm sure some will think it's easy for a wealthy man to blame poor immigrants. But if his numbers are true, he has a point.

As of June 2025, over 1.3 million foreign-born individuals were receiving Universal Credit in the UK, representing about one in six (16.4%) of all claimants, yet the foreign born population is about 16%, so its not massively over represented.
.

It's strange how no one has an issue with the other 5 work shy brits who take take take, just the immigrants.

Immigrants give far more to this country and have for decades than they take but that doesn't help politicians get people up in arms or fleece tax payer money.

Legal hard working ones that apply to come here and have something to offer this country do and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the non-working ones that are taking out of the system. We have enough of our own that are doing that.

Unfortunately that is going to continue to happen, individuals with connections to government are making large amounts of money out of these immigrants and as such will pressurise the government to ensure they keep coming

Since universal credit, it's been much harder to unpick the benefits stats. This is my best attempt:

Of the nine million, three million are in work and mainly claiming help with housing. What used to be called housing benefit.

Of the remaining six million, about one and half million are unemployed, about three and a half million are classed as unable to work due to health, and about a million are caring either for young children or those with disabilities.

Is this the Jim Ratcliffe who lives in Monaco?

The one who said he was going to build a car factory in Bridgend, and then after the Welsh government invested £5M of taxpayers’ money in site enabling works, decided to make the car in France?

The one who part owns Man U, which has immigrants making up over 80% of its first team squad?

That Jim Ratcliffe?

We are all immigrants , only difference is time .
Same old bullshit to divert the gullible from the real problems .
Seems to be working for Trump too .

Based on the above numbers. They take slightly more.
Based on your figures, it's not surprising.
There' still a heck of a lot of difference between the 9 million quoted and your 1.3 million.
Which one is an exaggerated firgure, or are both of them exaggerations.

And we need to define preciely what we mean by benefits.

Perhaps if they anglicised their name, they'd improve their chances of getting work:
Having a foreign-sounding name significantly reduces job interview callbacks, with studies showing minority applicants often require 50% to 90% more applications to get the same positive response as candidates with native-sounding names. This bias affects both first-generation immigrants and native-born minorities, acting as a direct hurdle in the hiring process.
