Without penning a long post as to why I feel this way, do you feel that these days the phrase "we know the cost of everything, but the value of nothing" is apt ?

we live in a cynical, throwaway world where altruism is regarded as a weakness.
In a way this has been forced upon us with the ever upward spiralling of cost on utilities/petrol /food/ there is not much money left for luxuries so we go for the cheapest option.People want cheap - and if you don't keep the customer satisfied they'll go elsewhere. We've got the society we deserve.
