lately I have been unable to download and read .pdfs using Adobe Reader. I have tried to uninstall it and reinstall a later version but the old version seems to be corrupt in some way, so that I can't uninstall it using the Add/Remove function in Windows and then the latest version won't install over the old version. I am running Windows XP SP 3. This is a fairly recent problem. Anyone got any advice?

Then when you get it all removed, try Foxit Reader instead. It uses much less resources than Adobe.
