I have purchased 5 under cabinet lights and the transformer to go with them (suitable for all 5 lights at once).

Now the transformer has 2 sets of wires... a neutral and a live which I assume is to connect into the mains, and then a kinda fibre cable with no wire markings on it. Just two plain metal ends.

What is the best way to wire up all 5 lights to the transformer and then wire the transformer to the mains (I have taken a fresh 1.5 twin and earth to where I want the transformer to be (on a lighting circuit).

Do I just use connector blocks everywhere?

I'd be interested to hear if such work is part P - required to have a self certifying electrician do it?

Ask the manufacturer or retailer to send you one.

e.g. you need the same length low-voltage wires to all the lamps from the transformer otherwise some will run dim and some will be too bright and burn out early.

The wires from the lights are all 1m each so the transformer can sit in a position where all wires can easily reach it. Its just how to connect them to the transformer, and how to connect the transformer to the mains thats confusing.

Ok... I got the documentation for the transformer/lights -- it does not even say how to wire it up!  It just tells you about maximum wire lengths.. nothing else.

the fibre wires are heat resistant. all the lamps should be connected to these in paralel

great.. thanks.. can i use one of these choc boxes for wiring the transformer to the mains as well? :)
