HI,

I am in the process of considering the options for the heating system in a single storey extension 3m x 10m. The rear walls from my kitchen and dining room are to be removed to give an open plan feel to the extension.

Ideally I would like underfloor heating in the extension area and rads in the dining & kitchen areas, mainly because the kitchen/dining rooms have block and beam concrete flooring and I don't want to disrupt it. The extension will have a solid concrete/screed floor.

Is it possible to simply extend the pipework from my existing heating system and run it to underfloor heating in the extension? What would be the pros and cons of doing this. I want to put a real wood floor down in the extension so will this be possible with under floor heating. My boiler is a 1 year old vailant combi, biggest one they did at the time so should be able to cope with the extra demand.

The other option I have is to simply install a couple of extras rads in the extension.

Thanks for any advice

Thanks for the link, some good information on the site regarding wooden floors and UFH.

Has anyone any suggestions on a suitable kit for the underfloor heating, especially as I only need to cover an area of approx. 25m2 due to kitchen cabinets etc.
