Underfloor Heating

I want to fit undertile electric heating in my bathroom. I have bare floorboards on joists and will be using tile adhesive and floortiles above the heating mat. Question is, what do I need to do to the floorboards (not t+g, just old fashioned butted boards). I thought I would put a screw a sheet of plywood to the boards before laying the mat, but notice there are various thicknesses, plus you can also get insulated board.

Can someone advise me on the type and thickness of material to use? :D

hi there.
around 12/18 mm ply is used. but you get a big step up when entering the area.
you can get DEVI boards that are only 10mm thick.
make sure you secure the ply/boards well at around 30cm centres.(screw not nailed)
also use a flexible bag'd adhesive.

Ok, thanks for this. I'll check out Devi boards. I think they make the mats aswell.
