Academic really but we’re having new carpet throughout soon and I’m just taking up the old carpet. We had a quote which included 9mm underlay although the salesmen said we could have cheaper stuff in the bedrooms. Anyway, I took up the carpet and the underlay seemed in perfectly good condition and from memory, it was the most expensive underlay I was shown in one showroom. It has been down at least 15 years though. I suggested keeping it, Mrs mottie was adamant it was going so I’m just off to the tip with it now. Just out of curiosity, who was right?

I'd say you were right: if an't broke.....

But SWMBO is always right (assuming they're all like mine!)
