Hi,
The house I've just moved into (Victorian terrace) has an extension into the attic, where there is a velux window. The window's fine but the surround is totally unfinished - it seems as though the hole for the window has been cut in the roof and the bit surrounding the window is plasterboard (I think it's plasterboard). Anyway, it hasn't been finished off so there are gaps between the layers of plasterboard and it looks quite rough and ready.
I am a novice DIY-er but was thinking of filling the gaps with expandable polyfilla, covering any screws with normal polyfilla, sanding the whole lot down and painting over it. Do you think that sounds OK, or does it sound like something I need a professional to come in and finish off for me?
Thanks for any advice!
Sarah
