Hello all

A neighbour has one of these units and the fan is intermittently failing to start. Once it does start it seems to run OK.

Anyone out there with any experience of servicing these things?

Cheers

Dave

When you say "failing to start", what do you mean?

These units are usually controlled by a room thermostat, so if the thermostat doesn't switch then the fan motor won't run.

If you're sure that the thermostat is fine, and that all other isolating switches are fine, then it sounds like it's time for a motor rewind. This won't be cheap, but is commonly the cheapest option for an old unit.

Thanks for the reply Softus.

Good idea to look at/for the room stat.

By failing to start I mean that the fan which blows air through the heated blocks doesn't turn, but apparently this is intermittent. The heater elements seem to work OK.

I'll try to have a look at it tomorrow.

Cheers

Dave
