Hello,i am steadily decorating our first house. Just took a browse out for some carpets.

We were quoted £290 fitted for platinum underlay and a general cheapish...hard wearing carpet.... £5.99 per square metre

Underlay 6.99 per square metre

We have no idea on the cost of carpet really but seems kind of reasonable..
Basically both rooms longest area are 3m by 2.5m.

Should i be trying a smaller firm for carpets really?
Should underlay cost more than the carpets?
The gf wants to tread on a comfy soft ground and united stated the more expensive underlay will add to the comfort.

Any tips on carpet buying would be helpful and benificial.

Thanks

reuben
