Hi all,

I have just recently moved to a house which has a burglar alarm, however we are unable to determine the product type. There are no numbers, makers names, or marks on the box, which is clearly turned on, flashing on the digital panel etc. Questions were raised during purchase but unhelpful seller didn't know. I have a fear the alarm will go off with no way of turning it off. Is there a way of determining the manufacturer so I can go about finding out more about the alarm?

Would a alarm specialist be able to source the alarm?

take a photo, load it onto the site,
there are a few of us proffessional alarm engineers on this site
so i think between us we could identify it

Munford & White CPA6 ( Co. no longer exists )

I really don't think it's worth the effort for this panel, it has not been made for years & is well past its sell by date & I bet if the mains supply & battery were disconnected it will loose all its programming (there is another battery holding memory soldered to PCB, it will be as old as the panel & dead).

It has obviously been 'adjusted' in some way as the key lock plainly shows, should be 2 screws, no lock.

I'd really love to see inside, please take a picture & post it when you have made the decision to have it removed & replaced.

If you are serious about doing something with this box, add your email address & I'll send you the manuals tonight.

Thanks for that, the only trouble is its key locked at the front, and guess whta.. no key! Whats the recommendation replace? As the conections are already there, could you install a new alarm easily in its place?

again, M & W, boy thats an old bit of kit!!
in its time it was a great panel,

you can use the cabling for the devices, but check all cable cores to ensure that they are all sound.

change the panel for anything you lke really, alot of people on the site favour the texacom range, as well as there PIRs and the external siren units.

but make sure that you have a modicom of technical knowledge as some of the teminology might escape you, (but we are hear to help)

good luck,
and if you need any advice just ask

You can usually

I doubt the lock is anything fancy so you'll probablly not have any trouble drilling it out.

Assuming it's a panel that uses normal alarm wiring methods replacing it with a new panel should be pretty easy.

I would still like to see a picture of the inside when you get it open, pretty please.
