Firstly, sorry if this is in the wrong forum....

I've recently bought a flat which i've just moved into. In each of the rooms there are switches on the walls and I don't know what they are for. They arn't near any plugs or appliances and the ones in the bedroom & living room are about a foot from the floor. They just look like a light switch, but obviously arn't.

Does anyone have any idea what they could be for?

Cheers,
An embarrassed Claire

they could be double pole switches for old storage heaters taken out.

Can you post a picture of said switches, and also you mains area where your fuse box is.

Is there one per room? How old is your house?

den's idea gets my vote..

double pole switches for economy 7 storage heaters..

one in a hallway next to the bathroom might be for an electric towel radiator but other than that if it's one in every room then I'd definitely go for storage heaters..

do you have 2 fuse boards or one with 2 rows of breakers?
