Those with an eye for detail will notice that the bright sparks we've bought a house from decided to proper ***** out and block up the inside of an external door to give themselves more wall space for kitchen units.

We want to take the door out and brick up the outside (as I agree with what they did, just no the quality of the work!).

Only problem is no key seems to exist for this door. Thankfully it opens outwards!

Is it a job for a locksmith, or is there a DIY method; grind off the hinges and try and jimmy it out?

On the basis that it doesn't matter if you destroy the door then I would probably start by grinding the hinges off and see if you can jemmy the door out.

Or you could run a grinder all the way around the edge to cut the fittings that attach the frame to the brickwork..

Snap the barrel, you might have to break the handle off but it wont cost you a penny.

large drill through the keyhole and drill out the barrel may need a couple of tries using progressivly bigger drill bits
