I am about to install an LED security light on an outside wall and will have a cable surplus after it is wired into a junction box which will be attached to the wall my question is can, I coil the excess cable and leave it loose or can I coil it around the light itself keeping well away from the heat of the light I do not want to cut the cable as it may be needed to go through the wall

Coil it up and cable tie it back to the fixed wiring, regularly done with industrial cabling where it's known as a service loop

Leave enough to go through the wall, and connect inside at the appropriate time.

Just make sure that where it enters the junction box, the entry is from below, so there is not a path for water to flow down the cable into the box.
