unused man hole.

hi, i am building an extension that involves building over one of the man hole covers. this particular man hole houses the soil pipe for my toilet only. the next manhole is 2metres away, and has a capped off inlet that i will re connect to. my question is, do i have to replace the section of pipe in the manhole, or is there a way of putting a sheet of ply and backfilling with concrete. :?
