Updating/ changing a website

So lets say one person designs, puts it out there and maintains a site for me then in time I want somebody else to alter aspects and maintain it, is this possibly, easy, hard or not possible?

Easy - provided the first person gives you FTP login details for the site. (Or, of course, if you already know them.)

First thing I would advice is to ensure you own the domain name and not the person who made the website for you.

Secondly, with ownership of the domain you can point the domain to any website host.

If you want the new designer to maintain and update your current website, you will need the login details for the hosting platform to do so.
