I have an I-on 50EX panel and I need to upgrade it to support internet access/ alerting / control. My home phone provider is ceasing my telephone line.

Unfortunately the guy that fitted the system has moved overseas and the few local guys I’ve contacted haven’t been particularly interested in upgrading the system, as they don’t seem to use Eaton products.

Having looked around it seems that I should be able to upgrade the main panel with the newer IonG2 alarm panel that supports Secure Connect. Having checked the compatibility my existing keypads and expander are both comptible with the new panel. I have I-KP01 keypads and the W10 expander. A mis of PIR, Door contacts, Window Vipersx 1 outdoor bell box and Fire detectors.

Does anyone with experience know if this is a reasonably straight forward swap? I’m fairly competent with these things, would it be something I could do myself with due diligence?

Any thoughts on Eaton and the Secure Connect app? Is there a reason there are few Alarm engineers fitting these?

Thanks all

Nathan

Thanks. Seems so. Strange considering when I had this original alarm fitted, their Scantronics brand seemed to be really popular.

Anyhoo, would you know anything about the internals on these panels?

Maybe because it got confusing with the models that came.. and where then replaced with another ? I don’t know have tried an ion 10 ….only because of the loss of the euromini …was ok

From your experience would swapping the main panels generally be straight forward? Going to take the lid off this weekend, on the old one. Have the installer code, was given it when the fitter moved, so will stick the panel in installer mode.

Was planning on taking pics of the old board and comparing the wiring / config against the new board and deciding from there if its something I feel I can take on.

Any tips? Thoughts?
