Wanted to run round the living room ceiling edges with subtle LED strip lights, but the uplight or indirect lighting coving you can buy is about £40 for 2m... outrageous! Its only fancy guttering!

How can I achieve the same effect on a budget? Without actually using guttering!

Cheers

Hey. Check eBay. I've no idea what design you're looking for but, for example, this one is quite nice: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rose-Patt..._Accents_LE&hash=item25729725ec#ht_2448wt_888

For delivery, they've a minimum order of 20 m which comes to £170 including the delivery charge. If you live near Stockport, you could collect it and avoid the £40 delivery charge. Even after delivery, that's £8.50 per meter.

Let me know how it works out. Would love to see photos of the work in progress and when it's finished.

Thanks, but thats just normal coving...

Indirect light coving sits about 8" from the ceiling and is usually trough shaped so you can insert uplights...

Ive found a few links on how you can do it yourself using a ledger (4x1 plank fixe along the wall), and some sort of trianglusr wedges that you can then fix normal coving (like above) to so you dont need to tix it to the ceiling.

Maybe a cheaper solution...

Simple mdf boxing would do, you could use normal lightweight coving below to decorate is you wish.
