UPVC cladding between bay windows - options?

My recently purchased house has white upvc cladding between the upper and ground floor bay windows. It's not in the best condition nor particularly attractive and, knowing nothing about house construction, I wondered if anyone could tell me what the options would be? Ideally, I would like it to be more like my neighbouring houses where it is brick between the windows, would this be possible? What is likely to be underneath the cladding? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There is likely to be timber battens and a timber frame wall.

Alternatives are more upvc cladding, fake timber cladding (this looks very good actually and is maintenance free (cheaper than upvc too btw), timber cladding, possibly brick slips although this would be a lot more work, possibly render again more work.

The brick slips solution would (in principle) involve applying a backer board and then sticking the slips to this backer board. Retaining adequate ventilation behind the backer board would need careful consideration.

The render solution is basically the same but render instead of slips.
Thanks, the fake timber cladding I didn't know about and it definitely sounds worth looking into. Also possibly the rendering option so that gives me a couple of great starting points. Thanks again!
