Upvc door lock shorter one side

The scary thing is that you have moved home and did not change the locks as a precaution.

New home = New locks

Is it possible the lock has been fitted the wrong way around? If it was reversed, it may fit properly both sides?!

Well I've taken the lock plate off and haven't got access to the lock, think I'll give in here don't fancy drilling holes in the door

Finally took another look at the door barrel and i've followed your advice and managed to take it out.

There's been a few attempts at people trying to break locally via the patio doors over the last week so thought i'd better sort the locks out

The good lock which sits flush looks like its 50/50 100mm

Any recommendations? So far i've been looking at

Not the first one, sorry read back my previous replies, I was a bit rude, apologies, must have been a bad day.

Would you prefer a pair, so they use the same key for each door?

My preference, rightly or wrongly, is a key-matched pair, with thumbturns on the inside for easy exit. Yes, it makes it easier for a burglar to leave if they got in somewhere else, but also makes it easier for me to leave in a fire, especially in the dark when I have no idea where they keys are, amongst, smoke, dark and panic!

Also, I have a question.... how the hell do slave doors sometimes not have a hole to access the lock? How did the lock get fitted in the first place?!

No problem we all have them (y)

Is there much difference between the 2 links i posted?

I've thought about thumb turns but i don't think the mrs would like them in case anyone got in so probably separate keys

Yeah, the first one has a 1 star rating which is not good. Have a Google of Avocet (other 3 star brands available). You can get them keyed alike and with Thumbturns if desired.

@phatboy They fit all the locks and barrels , and then screw a ' floating Mullion ' on which covers the locks ... Its so the door seals completely . The correct way is to remove the floating mullion and then you are presented with the standard lock layout you would expect to see on a door, and easy to access screws.

Thumbturns are know part of building regs under Document Q, for the exact reason you said.... not knowing where keys are in the advent of a fire
