upvc facias and soffitts

i am going to replace my facias and was thinking of using over facia vents and upvc felt replacement.
are over facia vents any good and is there any problems with them
will i have to trim the width of the facias to compensate for the extra with that the vents will add?
is this system ok or should i go for the vented soffits instead
