I'm looking for some advice regarding replacement sash windows installed in my Victorian property in West London.
The company replaced 12 original timber sash windows with uPVC sash windows in April 2025 at a cost of just under £9,000. During the installation I raised concerns that the new windows appeared noticeably smaller than the originals and that they had been fitted within the openings rather than making use of the existing checked reveals. As a result, there seems to be a significant loss of visible glass area in several windows, including the bay window. There are also substantial gaps around some frames which have been filled with expanding foam and appear to require extensive trim and finishing work.
I raised these concerns during the installation itself and have continued to do so since completion through messages, phone calls and a site inspection, but the issues remain unresolved. I have photographs showing the original windows, the openings after removal and the completed installation, and an independent specialist has also expressed concerns about aspects of the fitting. Before I take matters any further, I would really appreciate opinions from anyone with experience of sash window replacements. Based on the photos, do the windows appear to have been measured and fitted correctly, and would you consider this to be an acceptable standard of workmanship for replacement sash windows in a Victorian property?
