Hi,

Need a front door and possibly one/two windows doing in the South East Yorkshire area (Not far from jct. 30 M1). Does anyone have any recommendations on decent company to do the job? You hear of cowboys all the time, but rarely the good ones - speaking of which, we did have a price from Safestyle, great for entertainment value, just like watching rogue traders really.

Thanks,

Company called Vision based in Chesterfield, not far from you. Did my parents house, and the result is great. The head chap also came out to inspect the job and make sure my parents were happy. Only problem was a rear window frame that hadn't been sealed underneath - I picked this up when I checked the job, and they came back a couple of days later to rectify it.

Have to say I'm not a great fan of UPVC due to its weakness against attack. My parents have wooden door, fitted with locks I supplied, and I've ensured the windows have shoot bolts into the frame.

Yorkshire windows did a good job on 2 windows for us. Very good quality, but not cheap.

we had a few prices 2k - 4k best thing is to diy it you get a better job cos your doing it your self some companys like to get in n out quick, they dont care if they havnt sead it right.

realy its very easy to install pvc windows it you order the right messurments and fix em good n seal em.

we saves alot by cutting out the middle men n cowboys

Thanks everyone. Am considering the DIY route, as there are a couple of supply only places near by.

we buy ours from a place called:

Rhino Windows Ltd
Unit 8 Spence Mills
Mill Lane
Leeds
LS13 3HE(Road Map)
West Yorkshire
Tel: 0113 255 3377

if there too far im sure there will be a supplyer near you.

Safestyle quoted me 2k for one front door wasnt even a fancy one, They also quoted 1k for each window in the house. Shocking when there are some firms who will do 7 windows and a door for 2k

it dont cost much to make a pvc window i bought a 11' x 6' pvc window cost about £350, just think how muce the middle men and fitters are getting if they fitted that for somebody.
